The market harborough martingale consists of a neck strap with two adjustable straps which go through the bit and snap onto the D's on the reins.  Pressure is brought to bear on the horse's mouth when the horse acts unfavourably by kifting his head (the thereby hollowing out the back) if the horse rides in self carrage the marhet harborough does not come into play
